Even a hot deal isn't good enough to play here.
At first the course is actually very appealing to the eyes. Once you tee off on the first hole you start to see the problems, no fairways (mostly dirt and sand) the greens aren't kept up at all. Had to really hit the ball on the greens to get it to go anywhere. Our cart broke down half way through the round. Just an overall bad experience and I will not be back.
Terrible course
Staff was not friendly. Course was in terrible condition. Lots of tree roots, no grass on fairways. Tee boxes were not mowed or level and the greens had not been trimmed. There were no directional arrows to the holes so we got turned around on several occasions.
This course should be taken off of your website
Ok for the money
I have golfed there three times. I have found that the greens are terribly slow with coarse grass on some. The fairways have many bare spots and are very hard in spots. Hole 13 is intimidating for a novice golfers like myself but otherwise I think the course is fairly easy. One thing I found difficult for me were some tee boxes were not flat.
Bad shape
Tees and fairways in bad shape. You might expect at this time of year. But..... greens were absolutely horrible. If there were not large areas is sand there was spotty to total 1/2 inch or longer rye type grass covering the green. Putting was impossible.
Interesting track but in desperate need of TLC
Dogwood Hills is a fun layout, especially on the back 9 with lots of water coming into play. Course lined with pine trees and you need to hit the ball straight or you will be chipping out ALOT.
Greens slower than a snail pace. Very fuzzy and some in poor shape due to disease rot.
Could be a fantastic course with maintenance... greens, t boxes and fairways need a ton of it.
Bad Greens
The greens were in very bad condition and the pro shop did not tell us before we went out. Putting on these greens were so bad this was not a good measure of golf. Other wise the course condition was ok and from the tee to the fairways were ok. Turned out to be a practice session for shot making because putting on every green was out of the question. At the end of the day we paid to play golf but ended up with 3 and a half hours on the driving range. Not a good experience.
A diamond in the rough
This is a really fun course with a great deal of potential. I hope that someone will make an investment in bringing the fairways and greens back to life because this could be a premier course in the area.
Pros
• Friendly staff
• Great layout
• Good use of trees and hazards to make the course challenging
• Small greens with lots of undulations
• #17 is really unique
• The restaurant was fantastic
Cons
• Fairways and greens were pretty bare
Goat Ranch
The course was borderline unplayable. Where I come from this doesn't even qualify as a golf course, it's a cow pasture. Of course, the cows would have a hard time finding something to eat here. Not a good lie to be found anywhere. Greens that are about as fast as shag carpet with about five different types of grass. Unlevel and dead tee boxes. Grass was two inches tall in the middle of the "fairway". Just an amazingly poor course all the way around...
Good Course
Course was fun and enjoyable.
Don't play
Course in terrible condition.Cart quit...walked in to clubhouse...counter guy reluctantly gave a 9 hole raincheck. For one person ..two of us played..second cart barely made it to clubhouse..clerk says the cart must have been used earlier..they usually make 36 holes. .I asked..well does anyone check them before they go out..no answer..really disappointed 15 holes of golf...
Back 9 is in better shape than the front,
Great value for the money
Great course for beginners and for the laid back golfer
Great value, good course, excellent staff
Terrible Course!!
Other than the staff, there was not one single thing I could find positive about this course. Greens were awful and fairways were even worse. You should be rewarded for hitting a drive right down the middle of the fairway, not walk up to your ball that's in sand, rocks, or the ground that feels like concrete. Definitely won't be back, not even for a hot deal
Relaxing whispering pines
I love the course . I've played on better but this by far will test your patience and help build your skills.
Dogwood Hills Golf Club
Good course but the best was Steve. I believe he was the manager. What an ambassador for the club. Friendly and extremely helpful. He made you feel as though you had played the course for years. He is certainly and asset to the course.
Friendly Staff
Very nice staff and close to Gulfport, but the course was a little rough (hard-pan fairways and greens needed work). Unfortunately there were a some dufus' that played out there that were rude and inconsiderate.
Dogwood
The staff makes the golfing enjoyable. Greens are in good condition. Fairways could use some work but overall playing is good. The food is GREAT!!!!!
